Description of the ISTA Leadership Development Project – Psicotec
Ista is a German multinational, world leader in the energy consumption measurement and billing sector, with a presence in more than 21 countries, one of them Spain, and with more than 6,000 employees globally
In such a globalized environment, and as part of its strategy, ISTA Leadership Academy was born, the leadership academy focused on people who assume a leadership role in the organization and that will focus on:
- Establish a clear direction aligned with the corporate strategy.
- Boost your teams, removing obstacles and developing them to optimize their performance.
- Guiding responsible change, setting the course.
Since Leadership is a complex concept that can be worked on from different perspectives, Psicotec’s role has focused on the local adaptation of the leadership model and the definition of the training and development program for its leaders. All this had to be framed within the common Talent Management policy that, from Germany, lands in the different national subsidiaries. Therefore, in this case, Psicotec’s constant collaboration with ISTA’s Human Resources teams both in Spain and in the German parent company has played a leading role in the execution of the project.
But how have we shaped this adaptation? It has not been a mere local transposition, but from Psicotec we have relied on one of the star programs of Psicotec’s Talent Training and Development Area, “Leadership Challenge”. Based on self-knowledge and self-transformation, the objective is none other than to provide ISTA leaders with the necessary tools to become authentic influencers and catalysts of change.
The challenge? Contribute to reflection, debate and networking in order to generate a challenging work environment that fosters commitment and promotes the personal and professional development of middle management.
The opportunity? Launch internal challenges, face-to-face workshops and action plans linked to corporate values and the leadership model that allow them to acquire practical tools for the development and management of their teams.
Methodology of the ISTA Leadership Development Project – Psicotec
The leadership development program was articulated around four content modules adapted to the leadership model and principles defined by ISTA and taught with experiential methodology in four face-to-face sessions that cover three aspects: Effective Leadership, Coach Leader and High Performance Teams.

In more detail, the topics covered in each of these sections were:
- Effective leadership: People in leadership positions are always required to perform at a certain level, but before they can be leaders, they need to lead themselves, to be able to lead themselves. To do this, it is necessary to work on aspects such as self-awareness, self-knowledge (especially on an emotional level) and decision-making. At this point, we can reflect on what it means to lead and on the importance of involving employees in their own personal and professional development processes.
- Coach leader: In this second block, we focus on the ability of true leaders to guide their employees in the desired direction. To achieve this, it will be necessary to adapt the leadership style to each particular situation and implement x support processes until each employee achieves the necessary autonomy to develop optimally in their position and in the organization. It is important to remember that evolution is not linear. Every road has peaks and valleys, evolutions and involutions, so the figure of the leader will have to be permeable and close.
- High-performance teams: It is not easy to lead a team, especially when there are high levels of when you have a wide diversity and/or remote work. In this third block, we focus on turning the reality that is given to us into a true high-performance team that, due to its agility, flexibility, communication and efficiency, will function as a beacon in our organization.
The benefits of the ISTA-Psicotec ISTA Leadership Academy Leadership Development program have been very varied, but to start with perhaps the most relevant, we want to highlight the gratitude of each and every one of the participants.
