In a place lost in the mountains, floods occurred that covered the entire town with water. The Red Cross and Civil Protection sent rescue boats.
One of the boats stops at the door of one of the hamlets and the villager who is there tells them: “No, no; go get others, because Providence will save me”. Time passes, the water covers him above his waist, another boat arrives, and tells them the same thing. He was lucky, because when the water reached his neck, another boat offered him its help, but the villager insisted that Providence would save him. No other boat arrived, and the villager drowned.
He entered Heaven amidst protests: “I trusting in Divine Providence… and Providence, nothing, let me drown.” And he heard the following answer: “What do you mean! We have sent you three boats!”
Emotions are an immediate response from our body that informs it of the possibility that a certain stimulus or situation is favorable to our interests.
If the situation is oriented towards their survival, they experience a positive emotion (joy, satisfaction, desire, peace, etc.) and if not, they suffer a negative emotion (sadness, disappointment, sorrow, anguish, etc.).
This emotional assessment is carried out through very diverse physical-chemical mechanisms.
Apparently, emotional states allow each of us to establish certain ways of appreciating the environment and to prefer and make certain decisions (based on a given method).
What made Walt Disney, founder of the company known all over the world and which bears his famous name, dub Mickey Mouse with his own falsetto voice, given the scarcity of means in its beginnings?
Why did Ray Kroc, founder of the Mc Donald’s Food Chain, personally supervise the kitchen of his first restaurant and peel the gum off the parking lot with a scraper?
What made Henry Ford think, that after two failures as an automobile manufacturer, he was able to start the Ford Motor Company?
Steve Balmer, CEO of Microsoft, admits that “it doesn’t matter if we take a big hit and fail. We will give it to ourselves again and again, and again and again we will get up and move forward.”
The founder of that company, Bill Gates, says that “we can afford to make some mistakes; what we cannot afford is not to try”.
As Montaigne said, the greatest proof of wisdom is continuous joy.
It will no longer be Divine Providence who will help us in the future; it may or may not be, or a Black Swan may appear that changes our life without warning, but participate in the governance of one’s life, based on believing and creating your own tomorrow and orienting it towards what you really like or with which you feel most comfortable, going out every day with energy to take advantage of the options and the small moments and address and learn from the disappointments, cultivate the curiosity to ask, to know about disciplines that you do not know, to better manage and master the moods that lead you to places that take you nowhere… when you think about it coldly.
These are the ingredients of the Positive Attitude. Enjoy your meal.
