About ANAV and Nuclear Energy
Ascó I and II Nuclear Power Plant
The Ascó nuclear power plant is located in the municipality of Ascó, in the region of Ribera d’Ebre (Tarragona), on the right bank of the Ebro River. The plant is located 65 kilometres from Lleida, 73 from Tarragona and about 110 from the mouth of the Ebro.
CN Ascó has two units that produce more than 15,000 GWh per year. The construction of the plants took more than ten years. In 1974, the construction permit was granted to Ascó I and, a year later, to Ascó II. In June 1983, the reactor of Unit I was synchronized for the first time, although its commercial operation did not arrive until December 1984.
For its part, the second group connected for the first time in October 1985 and began commercial operation in March 1986. Ascó NPP belongs to the second generation of Spanish nuclear power plants, commissioned in the 80s.
The following plants belong to this group: Almaraz I (1983); Almaraz II (1984); Ascó I (1984); Ascó II (1986) and Cofrentes (1985).
Vandellós II Nuclear Power Plant
The Vandellós II nuclear power plant is located in the municipality of Vandellòs i l’Hospitalet de l’Infant, in the Baix Camp region (Tarragona), next to the Mediterranean Sea. The plant is located 42 kilometres from the city of Tarragona.
The Vandellós II NPP is one of the youngest in Spain.
It belongs to the so-called third generation of Spanish nuclear power plants together with the Trillo I nuclear power plant (1988) and produces more than 8,000 GWh annually.
The plant’s construction permit was granted in 1980, but construction of the plant was not completed until 1987.
In December of that same year, the first coupling to the electricity grid took place and on March 8, 1988, Vandellós II NPP began commercial operation.
Among all the known technologies, nuclear energy is a reference in the developed world because it is a reliable generation source, which operates with the highest safety standards and is also environmentally friendly, because it does not emit greenhouse gases.

Room Operator
The position of room operator is a position of high responsibility, which requires a high level of technical qualification. The operator is a highly trained professional with the ability to work in a team who, in addition, has the opportunity to develop an important professional career within ANAV.

Once you have completed your training period, your salary will be over €71,000 gross per year.

Training programme and phases
The program aims to train applicants to obtain a reactor/turbine operator license for the Ascó and Vandellós II Nuclear Power Plant.
The paid training lasts approximately 36 months, and throughout them, the student acquires theoretical and practical knowledge about nuclear facilities in general, the Ascó and Vandellós II plants in particular, the operation manuals and on radiological protection and legislation.
The program includes both classroom training and practical training in the plant and sessions in the simulator of the control room. The scope and content of the same is established by CSN’s instruction IS-11.
Requirements
Minimum education requirements: Technical Engineering, Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in one of the following fields:
Industrial
Naval
Chemistry
Telecommunications
Aeronautics
Mines
Professional experience of between 1-3 years will be positively valued, preferably in technical areas
Knowledge of English at the operational level to read technical documentation.
Computer knowledge at the user level.
Availability to work in rotating shifts (Morning-Afternoon-Night).
