It’s Weather Time

It is common to check the weather tomorrow to decide how to equip ourselves for the next day; In addition, in recent weeks there is no more recurrent topic than the weather. Cold, heat, more heat, heat wave, cold drop, climate change… Everything often conditions our mood and the vitality with which we face our day to day.

Therefore, we should pay special attention and care to the climate that is experienced and generated in our work environments.

In the business world, which after all is a living entity that must continuously adapt to changes in the environment, the work (or organizational) environment must be considered as one of the key factors. It is capable of catapulting the organization towards success or failure as a result of the emotions and motivations of the people who make it up.

From the first studies on the subject back in the 40s of the twentieth century to the present day, Human Resources managers have become aware of the extent to which this factor affects people, their performance, productivity, performance and therefore the organization itself, its culture and its values.

It seems logical to think that an optimal work environment that recognizes, congratulates and rewards the employee, that is committed to their development and that is based on shared values will raise the feeling of belonging to the organization and increase productivity. But is that always true? Do different leadership styles play a role? Are there sectors that require extra effort?

For Litwin and Stinger, there are 9 dimensions that have an impact on the generation of the work environment: structure, responsibility, reward, challenge, relationships, cooperation, standards, conflicts and identity.

An organization 2.0 must be aware that the center of its entire universe is the Person, which makes it uniquely and radically different from its competence, and it must commit itself to taking care of each of these dimensions since only through this approach will it be able to safeguard and nurture its own ecosystem. The organization’s habitat is something as fragile and valuable as life on our planet.
