Hydro, a world-leading industrial company in the fields of aluminium and energy, has relied on Psicotec for the implementation of an ambitious Team Building and Work Environment project at its plant in La Selva del Camp, Tarragona.
Objective of the Psicotec-Hydro project: Team Building and Work Environment
In line with Hydro’s commitment to a healthy and stimulating work environment, this project aimed to generate cohesion in the team and identify measures for the development of an action plan, with an impact on the improvement of conditions in the plant.
To achieve this objective, two main actions are proposed: Team Building and Focus Group with the participation of all plant personnel.
Team Building and Experiential Methodology
In this first moment, a 5-hour Team Building dynamic is proposed, where all the personnel of the Hydro plant in La Selva del Camp participate.
This format is based on the experiential methodology that allows, thanks to a high dynamism and a change of environment, to leave the comfort zone, work on critical skills and collaboration, while facilitating a deep anchoring of knowledge.
The experiential methodology is focused on practice and oriented to immediate application in the work context. It is a participatory, motivating, experiential form of learning adapted to the interests and needs of the team to which it is addressed, in this specific case, the need to maintain a spirit of support and collaboration.
To this end, Psicotec’s Development & Training Area proposes a series of activities of all kinds that, through play, creative thinking and teamwork, allow certain acquired behaviors to be modified and reoriented in the desired direction.
Team Building is one of the most powerful tools for organizations since, in addition to improving productivity, it allows improving the development of skills and interpersonal relationships. Do you have doubts about how to implement it? Here we explain what Team Building is and how to organize it.
Evaluation of Team Building and Work Environment
The starting point for this project is NORSK HYDRO’s own Corporate Global Employee Engagement survey. Based on the results obtained, two clearly differentiated needs arise:
- Communicate the results to your employees
- Work on some specific aspects related to teamwork and communication.
That is why, taking advantage of Team Building as a catalyst for change, a series of focus groups is proposed to analyse the organisational climate in depth from two perspectives: the organisational and the individual/personal.
With all the information collected, several points of special relevance were identified on which to work in the short, medium and long term. All this, accompanied by a wide range of solutions to respond to these organisational challenges, which Hydro deploys through its 2-year action plan.
In environments with high uncertainty such as the current economic environment, it is increasingly important to be aware of the leading role of the organizational climate in any type of company. From the Consulting & Transformation Area of Psicotec we are aware that good management of the same will depend to a large extent on the commitment, culture, rotation and productivity of the organization. Therefore, beyond specific actions, we are committed to constant monitoring that generates the correct communication flows and is open to permanent updating.
Do you want to unite and boost your teams? Here we explain more about how to improve the work environment and enhance commitment.
The multidisciplinary nature of this type of project is a challenge with a capital transcendence on the future of organizations. That is why it is always appropriate to seek advice from an expert in the field.
At Psicotec we have been developing Development & Transformation projects for more than 35 years. If your organization needs any kind of advice or is facing a time of change, we will be happy to help you.
